From October 24th to 28th we are happy to announce Creating Change, a week of events that explore and celebrate creativity, imagination and the power of education and ideas, on the occasion of the launch of the Moleskine Foundation. The week brings together a group of international educators, artists, curators, journalists and publishers to explore and debate this seminal issue in a series of discussions, presentations and events at the Foundation’s headquarters in Viale Piceno, 17 in Milan.
Can Creativity change the World? Exhibition open to the public
At its heart, Creating Change will feature a week-long exhibition that explores the concrete and positive impact creativity can have around the world. The exhibition, entitled Can Creativity Change the World? is an interactive journey through various projects of lettera27 implemented in the last ten years. Visitors are invited to take part by sharing their opinions on the topic, and can also browse through a selection of Detour notebooks, created by renowned artists such as Spike Jonze, Antonio Marras and Ross Lovegrove, a selection of notebooks created during the AtWork initiative as well as myDetour project notebooks. All of them have been donated to lettera27 and now form part of the foundation’s permanent collection.
Can Creativity change the World? Interview and Round Table Discussion
This debate aims to get to the heart of the question Can Creativity Change the World? by exploring the ways in which education and literacy can lead to concrete and positive social change.
As well as officially opening the exhibition of the same name to the public, this round table discussion provides a wider context for the week-long Creating Change event. The role of creativity in bringing about social change will first be discussed by international journalist, Eliza Anyangwe (The Guardian, CNN), and Maria Sebregondi, the Moleskine Foundation President. The issue will then be examined further by an international panel of change-leaders including Heba Y. Amin, a visual artist, researcher and lecturer; Nigel Richard, director at Global Teachers Institute; and Lorenzo Newman, author and co-founder of Learn More. It will be followed by the on- stage intervention by our advisor and one of the most influential curators, intellectuals and writers of the African continent Simon Njami interviewed by the Moleskine Foundation COO Adama Sanneh.

La directrice exécutive Kimberly Aceves-Iñiguez s’engage avec passion depuis plus de 20 ans dans l’organisation de la justice sociale et dans des actions de plaidoyer qui donnent voix et pouvoir aux jeunes, aux personnes LGBTQ, aux personnes de couleur et aux communautés de la classe ouvrière dans la région de la Baie en Californie. Avant d’être nommée directrice générale de RYSE, Kimberly recouvrait la même fonction pour Youth Together, l’organisation qui a fondé le RYSE Center.
Les cofondatrices Catherine Dunga et Marleen Palmaers ont créé Kitambo pour combler le fossé entre la diaspora africaine en Colombie et les récits du continent. Respectivement depuis Kinshasa et Anvers, elles cherchent à mettre en relation les artistes africains du continent et leurs pairs de la diaspora colombienne.
