Description

The Program Director is a key role with primary responsibility for initiating and setting goals for programs according to the strategic objectives of the Foundation. He/she defines and drives the program strategy and serves as responsible for the development of new initiatives. The PD is also responsible for the fundraising strategy of the aforementioned programs with a specific focus on institutional donors.

JOB DETAILS
While we seek to tailor this role to the strengths of the selected candidate, areas you may be responsible for include the following:

  • Initiate and set goals for programs according to the strategic objectives of the organization
  • Develop budgets, operations and growth strategy for the programs under the direct responsibility
  • Development of new programs and related partnership and funding strategies
  • Devise evaluation strategies to monitor performance and determine the need for improvements
  • Supervise all program and project managers involved to provide feedback and resolve complex problems
  • Advising the CEO on strategy, particularly concerning education programming
  • Supervision of communications activities of programs under the direct responsibility
  • Drafting and editing of thought leadership materials
  • New revenue-generating ideas: create and implement programs, analyse costs/benefits
  • Active participation in recruitment, finance and other organizational processes

JOB REQUIREMENTS
The successful candidate will have completed his or her postgraduate studies at a high level, and have at least 7 years’ work experience. He or she will be able to demonstrate:

  • A strong track record in education, creativity and non-profit work
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and preferably Italian
  • Ability to work autonomously, proactively and meet deadlines
  • Capacity to work alone and as part of a team in a fast-paced, flexible environment
  • Strong research skills, and experience applying them to complex, international research projects outside of one’s field of expertise
  • Extensive experience procuring and managing contractors, including consultants, academics and non-governmental players
  • Experience in developing proposals with a specific focused to institutional donors
  • Strong knowledge of social innovation methodologies
  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects while managing conflicting priorities and deadlines
  • Demonstrated entrepreneurial spirit
  • Experience working internationally with a specific focus on various regions of the African continent
  • Interest in the arts and culture
  • Prior experience in non-profits and / or consultancy is preferred.
